Friday ~ Black history month activity started in class and finished at home to share in class on Monday! Be prepared to engage in the learning process.  You need to ask quality questions and also to answer questions about your person!

1. Open the list of people to research.

2. Open the 8th grade custom google search engine

3. Open the American history/NHD link and begin your research

4. You need to learn your persons basic biography, what they did and how they changed the world! We will ask questions about what they changed in the world or how they help improve the lives of african americans.

Week of 1-22-2018-Through 1-26-2018

Monday ~ The 4 subtopics and the research linked to understand and be able to explain how they influence your topic are the focus for today and the rest of the week.  We start presentations next Tuesday in class so everything needs to be done by then, visual included.

Tuesday ~ Due tomorrow are 5 complete notecards, with the my ideas section complete!

Thursday ~ Be thinking of what you are going to say and how you will organize your script and visual aid for next Tuesdays Presentation!

Visual Aid (Power Point) guidelines ~

1.  2 slides for each subtopic.

2. At least one picture  per slide that helps explain the content.

3. 3-4 bullet points of content (not just 1 word and not complete sentences)

4. An intro slide and a concluding slide.

Friday ~ 1/2 day for students! Complete Project Due at the beginning of class on Tuesday! Presentations start Tuesday!

Veterans Day Wall of Honor

 

Monday ~ Start to review your citizenship notes on ancient Greece for the requirements and rights and responsibilities!

In class today:

1. login to TCI

2. Find the section titled "the Golden Age of Athens"

3. Download the document "Athens after the Persian Wars" 

4. Read the text to answer the questions.

5. I will be around to check your power points!

6. When you have finished the multiple sections of text to complete all of the questions review your answers to make sure they are comprehensiove and answer what is asked!

7. Put your name on it and print it out.

8. The pages will go into your notebook.

9. If you don't finish it is your homework.

Tuesday ~ Find 3 examples of each type of Greek column in use in buildings found throughout the United States of America! 9 Pictures total named with the city(location) where we can find each example of a column.  Example- Doric column at Unami middle school chalfont Pa. and include the picture!

Thursday ~ Start to review your citizenship notes on ancient Greece for the requirements and rights and responsibilities!

Friday ~ Complete your power point comparing ancient Athens and Sparta!

Power Point expectations ~ 

Requirements are as follows.

The 4 topics for the power point are

       1. the education of boys and girls in both city states,

       2. The style of government for each city state 

       3. the economy for each

       4. the role of women and slaves in each city state.

Each powerpoint slide needs to have 1 to 2 pictures of the content  

An example slide of education might have 2 slides just for the education of boys in Sparta with pictures on each slide.

Please do your best work. Don't forget an introductory and conclusion slide. Be creative!

 

When complete print the power point out with 6 slides per page in black and white ink! Then compare your power points in groups of 3 to 4 students and see what you like about the other presentations.

  Classwork for today ~ Athens and Sparta Pictures

1. Use the pictures to answer the questions at the end of the section 

2. Then use tci to answer the rest of the questions.  You must also complete the lesson games for each section as the challenge question and record your answer in TCI online.

 

Friday ~ Today we will be creating a power point for Athens and Sparta.

Requirements are as follows.
